My Surefire has one light setting, this one has the ones that the description says, PLUS one they didn't mention - an auto-SOS setting. That's right - you set it on SOS and stand it up like a torch, and it will flash SOS in Morse code until you change the setting or the battery dies.
Since my son is deploying to Afghanistan in a year or so, I wanted him to have something he could use over there. A bonus - it weighs a little more than half what my Surefire (same size) does.
