I own several Surefire and Streamlight flashlights and purchased this one because it uses AA's. It has an amazing beam that is tight with a decent amount of sidesplash. The only thing is that is is very big, especially when you think about the size of 4 AA's. This light is built to take the rechargeable battery that is much bigger than 4 AA's, so it's body is about the width of a 2D-cell maglite, just ovaled out a bit. It would be nice to able to adjust the beam, but I haven't found many LED lights that can do that.
