This pen light is nicely built and works fine but the one LED is too weak to be of any use from any distance.
In a pitch black room it sheds some visible light but if there is any light in the room you will be hard pressed to see its effect on anything.
As far as being a true black light......I seriously doubt it.
It operates off a 1.5 volt AAA battery which is handy but no where near as powerful as a multi LED.
If you want one of these for small items or close work this might be fine but for larger areas or serious UV detection of body fluids I don't think this would be a good choice.Get more detail about 375 nm UV Ultraviolet LED Flashlight Pocket size 1 AAA.
